The Role
In the position of an HPC applications and system administration engineer, your responsibilities include aiding our customers in their usage of our HPCaaS service. This involves replying to customer requests and tickets, creating application workflows, troubleshooting. A crucial aspect of your role is to quickly identify issues and solve support requests. Your role is pivotal, playing a critical part in supporting our HPC environments and facilitating high-performance computing and simulations for our users.
Your primary responsibilities within the team involve:
- Swift reply to customer requests in the HPC environment
- Integrate and create application workflows
- Benchmark and optimize workflows and simulation runs
- Overseeing and monitoring customers' HPC infrastructure, with a focus on minimizing drift and ensuring operational efficiency.
- Establishing close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee timely response times.
- Contributing to the ongoing development efforts to ensure customer success.
The position entails extensive communication and collaboration. As an HPC applications and system administration engineer, you work closely with your team, and are in close communication with our HPCaaS userbase. In larger projects you will also work across teams, so being able to work in larger groups is a requirement.
In this role, your reporting line is to the Team lead of support and applications, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. We offer hybrid work arrangements but given that a portion of our team is based in Gothenburg, we prefer candidates for this position to reside in Gothenburg or the surrounding area.
Is this you?
To excel in this role, it is essential to possess extensive knowledge of Linux System Administration and proficiency in troubleshooting, as well as excellent documentation skills. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role is required.
Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite, and proficiency in Swedish would be considered an additional asset.
We believe you possess a well-rounded skill set that includes proficiency in the following toolkits:
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in the system administration of Linux environments.
- Previous exposure to queue systems such as SLURM/SGE/LSF/PBS.
- Familiarity CAE applications
- Knowledge of HPC system benchmarks.
- Knowledge of InfiniBand, MPI, Singularity/Apptainer etc.
- Proficient scripting abilities in bash/python/LUA.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Knowledge in GIT or similar version control tools
- Familiar with RPM packaging
- Operating in large scale environments
