About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Public Affairs & Communications to lead atNorth’s policy engagement, corporate communications, and reputation strategy. This pivotal role blends strategic influence with impactful storytelling — shaping the regulatory landscape, strengthening our social license to operate, and positioning atNorth as a thought leader in sustainability and digital infrastructure.
As part of our senior leadership team, you will drive public affairs and communications at local, national, and EU levels, collaborating with policymakers, industry associations, media, and customers. Your work will have a direct impact on policy outcomes, brand credibility, and business growth. The role will be part of the multi-award winning Strategy and MarComm team and report to atNorth’s Chief Strategy and Marketing & Communications officer.
Key Responsibilities
Public Affairs & Policy Leadership
Lead engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry associations across the Nordics and EU.
Build and maintain trusted relationships with political, regulatory, and industry stakeholders.
Monitor and anticipate legislative developments affecting the data center, sustainability, and energy transition sectors.
Represent atNorth in consultations, hearings, and public forums, influencing policy in line with business objectives.
Strategic Communications & Thought Leadership
Create compelling thought leadership content — articles, blogs, presentations, and media interviews.
Ensure a consistent and strong external voice for atNorth through executive collaboration and PR partnerships.
Translate complex policy and technical topics into accessible, engaging narratives.
Act as the company’s press office, delivering timely and accurate media responses.
Reputation and Stakeholder Engagement
Develop and deliver a high-impact press release pipeline and industry awards program.
Drive atNorth’s presence at exhibitions, industry events, and conferences.
Partner with customers to produce case studies that build brand credibility.
Identify and mitigate reputational and policy risks in collaboration with leadership.
Leadership & Operational Excellence
Build and lead a high-performing Public Affairs and Communications team, including agencies and copywriters.
Manage budgets, set goals, and measure performance across functions.
Establish best-practice processes for press, events, and crisis communications.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and performance excellence.
About You
You are a seasoned leader in public affairs and communications with a deep understanding of the data center industry and related policy landscapes. You have a proven track record of influencing legislation, shaping narratives, and delivering measurable impact. Strategic, detail-oriented, and resilient, you thrive in high-stakes, fast-paced environments and excel at building strong networks across political, regulatory, media, and industry circles.
Requirements
15+ years in senior public affairs and communications roles, preferably in tech-related B2B sectors (data center or IT services ideal).
5+ years in international leadership roles, managing teams and agency partners.
Proven success influencing policy outcomes in Nordic and/or EU contexts.
Master’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field; MBA is a plus.
Fully fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficiency in a Nordic language.
Willingness to travel several days per month.
Exceptional writing, editing, and strategic communication skills.
Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills.
