People & Culture manager with TA experience
atNorth is growing rapidly and has now passed the 100-employee milestone in Iceland alone. To support this growth, the company has decided to strengthen the People & Culture team with a senior HR professional. In this role, you will work closely with managers both in Iceland and globally. You should have a solid grounding in Icelandic labour law and experience from supporting recruitment processes. Together with the current P&C Manager in Iceland, you will help build a strong local team, while also contributing to the global P&C function by bringing additional expertise and capacity to ongoing initiatives.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and people-driven senior People & Culture Manager (with talent acquisition experience) to join our growing team at atNorth. In this role, you will act as a strategic and operational HR partner to managers across the business; driving people processes, leadership development, and culture initiatives.
While the core focus is HR partnering and organizational support, you will also contribute to recruitment activities when needed – by coaching hiring managers, discussing competency needs and also by doing hands-on screening calls and interviews.
As we have 3 operational sites in Iceland, you are expected to travel regularly and be visible at the sites to be close to our leaders. atNorth has operational sites in over several countries, so travelling also abroad will be expected from time to time. You should enjoy being in an international, fast paced environment where you will play an important role in developing functional and business related people processes. English is our company language, so we expect you to be fluent in both spoken and written English.
Your Key Responsibilities:
People & Culture Partnering
- Provide HR expertise and (senior level) advisory support to managers primarily in Iceland but also across the Nordics in areas such as labor law, leadership development, workforce planning, and organizational change.
- Drive and develop core HR processes, including performance reviews, succession planning, individual development plans, and compensation and benefits reviews.
- Contribute to building a strong company culture and scalable people practices
- Work closely with new managers and make sure to get them onboarded in the atNorth culture, tools and procedures
- Work with our people engagement tools and our leaders to increase focus and results of atNorth to be remembered “as a great place to work”.
- Coach and support leaders in people-related matters, such as managing performance and behavior, giving feedback, handling sensitive employee relations cases, and fostering team engagement and satisfaction.
Talent Acquisition Support
- Support recruitments for primarily Iceland but also selected key roles globally in collaboration with hiring managers (everything from creating job ads to interviews)
- Build and maintain talent pipelines and proactive sourcing strategies.
- Partner with hiring managers on workforce planning and talent needs.
- Follow up on competency planning, key employee mapping, succession planning activities
- Coach leaders on inclusive hiring and candidate experience
- Conduct personal assessments and references where needed
- Maintain alignment between talent needs and long-term people planning
- Participate in events to attract and find new employees
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and internal policies
- Improve and streamline HR processes/policies and documentation
- Use HR data and insights to inform decisions and support business outcomes
What You'll Bring:
- Minimally 7–10 years of experience in HR, with most of it in an HR Business Partner, HR Manager, or other strategic HR role.
- Solid track record in HR business partnering, including advising managers across the full HR spectrum.
- Strong experience in leadership training, coaching, and organizational development.
- Experience in recruitment, preferably within technical or fast-growth environments.
- Familiarity with driving HR-related projects and working with HR systems and tools.
- Education or certification in personal assessment tools is considered a merit.
Knowledge & expertise
- Confident understanding of labor law frameworks, especially in Iceland (knowledge of other Nordic countries is a plus).
- Strong grasp of people processes (performance, development, succession, engagement) and organizational effectiveness.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Icelandic (written and spoken).
Mindset & ways of working
- Coaching mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships with managers.
- Self-aware, proactive, and able to prioritize independently (“knowing what’s most important today to support managers best”).
- Collaborative, solution-oriented, and adaptable with a “can-do, I will figure it out” mentality.
- Driving license and access to a car.
