About Us:
atNorth is a fast-growing Nordic data center company, leading the way in sustainable, high-performance computing across Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and beyond. With an expanding footprint and a strong commitment to operational excellence and environmental responsibility, we are seeking a Design Manager to join our Development team and play a central role in ensuring world-class data center design and delivery across the Nordic region.
About the Role:
As a Design Manager, you will be the technical and commercial expert in Iceland and the broader Nordic region, responsible for implementing and overseeing the design of our physical data center infrastructure. You’ll work closely with our Director of Design and Development team to ensure that all builds align with atNorth’s standardized design principles, including architecture, mechanical and electrical systems, security, and sustainability.
You will manage design and build-out projects from master planning to commissioning, collaborating with engineering partners, contractors, and suppliers while driving efficiency, quality, and standardization across all locations. You’ll also support site selection efforts, validate Capex budgets, and act as a key point of contact for technical coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on, cross-functional role suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, with a keen eye for design consistency, sustainability, and technical excellence.
About You:
You are an experienced electrical or mechanical engineer, ideally with 5–7 years in data center or infrastructure projects. You understand the complexities of critical infrastructure design and construction, and can balance long-term planning with agile execution.
You are structured, proactive, and collaborative, with strong project leadership skills and the ability to simplify complexity and guide diverse stakeholders. You have an eye for sustainability, and bring an innovative, solution-oriented mindset to everything you do.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 5–7 years’ experience in engineering, preferably with data center or large infrastructure projects
- Deep knowledge of data center critical infrastructure design
- Familiarity with building systems, construction processes, and Nordic regulations
- Fluent in English; other Nordic language is a plus
- Willingness to travel frequently across the Nordics and be available outside regular business hours when needed
- Strong communication, analytical, and documentation skills
Why Join Us?
- Play a key role in shaping the next generation of sustainable data centers
- Work across diverse, high-impact projects in the Nordics
- Join a company with strong values, ambitious goals, and a collaborative culture
- Competitive salary and career growth opportunities in a future-oriented industry
