atNorth is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Operations team in Akureyri.
This is a permanent, full-time position suitable for all genders.
About the Role
Are you a practical, solutions-driven individual who enjoys fixing, improving, and maintaining technical facilities? This role is ideal for someone with a background in carpentry, electrical work, or general maintenance who takes pride in solving problems and keeping systems running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for a broad range of maintenance tasks in a highly technical, clean, and safety-focused environment.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is skilled with hands-on technical and mechanical work
- Has a background in carpentry, electrical work, or general building/facility maintenance
- Takes initiative, solves problems independently, and is quick to respond
- Works well under minimal supervision and can prioritize tasks effectively
- Communicates clearly and collaborates well with colleagues and contractors
- Enjoys working in a structured, high-tech environment where quality matters
Main responsibilities:
- Carrying out general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the data center facilities
- Performing minor electrical, carpentry, and plumbing work (within qualification limits)
- Proactively identifying and fixing issues before they escalate
- Coordinating with vendors and contractors for specialist repairs or service visits
- Supporting infrastructure upkeep, such as lighting, fixtures, fittings, and minor installation jobs
- Ensuring tools, materials, and inventory are well maintained and properly stored
- Assisting with technical setup or facility-related tasks during customer deployments
- Keeping the facility clean, safe, and operating at the highest standards
